This is a hint of where the Eskdale Project may be leading. The Real Austhwaite is an attempt to use four-dimensional mapping, including the ability to move in time, to place historical information about the rural community of Austhwaite, on the southern flank of the valley, into its context. It was developed using Google Earth, which I recommend viewers to use for viewing (other programs such as Google Maps will not give access to the full range of features).


Eventually, I hope to present the whole story of Austhwaite, from prehistory to the 21st century, but the first part to be completed is:
